The Templeton Foundation -- Asking the big questions and other links for May 18
The John Templeton Foundation has a wonderful series on the web. The latest question asks: Does Science Make Belief in God Obsolete? Click Here.
Here is another interesting site by scientists who are Christians and Jews. It is called Counterbalance Forum.
This is the link to Ben Stein's movie, Expelled.

Praying Until General Assembly
The Presbyterian Church (USA)'s General Assembly will be June 21 - 28 in San Jose, California. Please start praying now for the assembly commissioner and our denomination.
Information about the assembly, and prayer for it, can be found if you click here. The bottom article on that page is the most helpful.

References for this week's sermon
On May 11 (Pentecost) I will quote Dr. Lamin Sammenh of Yale Divinity School. Here is a link to that article in Theology Today (1988).
And here is Dr. Sammeh's biography.
I may also quote from Jurgen Moltmann's book The Church in the Power of the Spirit.

Pentecost
This Sunday is Pentecost and Mother's Day. For the former please wear red to church on May 11. We'll fill the church with a sea of red to remind us of the tongues of fire that lapped on the disciples on Pentecost (see Acts 2).
A link to thoughts about Memorial Day on this blog can be found by clicking here.
Easter Egg Hunt
Easter was almost fifty days ago, but here are Easter Egg Hunt pictures taken by Laura Mackey.
Thanks Laura!
That's the pastor in green reading a pop-up book of the Biblical Easter story to the children while the youth bunnies do their work hiding eggs.
A great picnic followed the event. See ya here next year on Palm Sunday!
